These photos show the panel erection sequence for three homes constructed simultaneously in Laredo, Texas. Combex Westhem provides qualified personnel to train the builder’s crews on-site to make certain the builder can take maximum advantage of the benefits of using the Combex Westhem system.

Building with Combex Westhem Thermcore™ Structural Insulated Panels is quick and easy, compared with conventional construction. It only takes one day for a crew of four to erect all the exterior walls for a typical 3 bedroom, 2 bath house. Allowing two more days for roof framing and decking, the complete house can be dried in within 3 days and ready for finishing.

The process is simple. Start by anchoring the base U-channel to the slab, then start setting panels. A 4x8 panel weighs about 140 lbs and is easily carried by two workers using suction cup handles. Start at a corner to set a rigid beginning point, and then the crew can usually make a straight run of up to 30’ of panels without the need for bracing or making another corner.

Simple clips inserted between the panels insure a plumb alignment. As the wall panels are erected, the top U-channel plate is inserted to complete the alignment. Self-drilling, self-countersinking screws attach the panels to the U-channels and alignment clips, and then the joints are welded smoothly together with our epoxy weld seam adhesive.
